Race World Offshore (RWO) with Larry Bleil and Rodrick Cox at the helm are steering their RWO team into the new season as the fate of who will be awarded the Key West November race week is being decided.
With opening up their competition classes and accommodating international race teams,March has already been a busy month for RWO. Founder Larry Bleil started RWO with a rule configuration of only closed canopied boats and RWO’s inaugural season in 2018 proved successful with that stance.
Both RWO races were well received and their new race site at Dunkirk New York became a favorite on their circuit. “Dunkirk’s course layout brings the boats into the harbor for a pass by the fans and back out into Lake Erie. The pier at Dunkirk became synonymous with RWO events; a crowd pleaser with thrilling action” explained Rodrick Cox, RWO’s Chief Operating Officer.
RWO has received numerous requests from race teams to allow an expansion of their class rules and RWO has responded: “We are going to provide for additional classes, including open boats and other engine configurations.
Professional classes need to be at least 5 boats of a like configuration to make a race. We’ll consider fewer, but from our business perspective and in fairness to the other race classes,we believe 5 boats is the right number,” said Larry Bleil.
Accommodating the international teams, RWO’s US Class 1 is already intentionally molded after the international Class 1 and for their 2019 season, RWO is also accommodating several new requests with respect to more engine variety and unique configurations from these international teams.
More RWO announcements will be made as soon as possible with respect to these possibilities. Race World Offshore is committed to provide the highest level of professionalism to all stakeholders within the scope of offshore powerboat racing. Their highly competitive classes, professional staff and distinct regard for sportsmanship on and off the course have earned RWO well deserved respect.
